The iSDX introduction in the early eighties was badged as the original Plessey iSDX, British Telecoms Merlin DX 300 and 3000, or Telephone Rentals Telematic DX, TDX300 and TDX3000. The product range later evolved into the Siemens Realitis, or more lately the Siemens HiPath Communications Server.

The ISDX is a digital private telephone exchange with a stored-program control. Capable of handling both voice and data calls it supports a full range of telephone handsets (standard analogue, digital, data), operator consoles, terminals, manager secretary working, ACD, and a full range of features and facilities.
